Yesterday was Elysia’s due date but instead of delivering a baby, we stopped by a neighborhood party.
Once again, there were great photo opportunities since I forgot to bring my camera.
I could have made a nice photo book for the baby: On The Day You Were (Supposed To Be) Born. In addition to pictures with friends, it could have had nice photos of sailors and Mommy standing by the beer pong table or chatting next to someone handing out jello shots. It would have been great.
On the other hand, sometimes I need to just leave the camera at home. After all, not every sailor wants to have the JAG and a camera in the same room.
We said goodbye to Esteban, Juli and their children. Dad and the two kids head to the States this week before school starts and Mom will be in Singapore for another month, continuing to work as my wife’s Legalman, before catching up with them at their new home. They have been in Singapore for three years and will be missed. In a touching tribute, the DJ (aka Joe) played a last-dance song for them. Then the party resumed and we ducked out.
Esteban is one of the handful of other civilian husbands here married to someone in the military. With the departure of the previous Admiral’s husband, I think that leaves three of us. Not that we need a support group or anything.
Citrus said goodbye to another friend but did not seem upset. Instead she talked about visiting them in Florida.
