Elysia’s friend, a Navy reservist in Afghanistan on a one-year deployment, writes:

I have now been on orders to Afghanistan for exactly 6 mos. Downhill from here! Here is my celebratory menu I have been assembling in my head for months.

Breakfast:

  • Corned beef hash and eggs, Mel’s Drive Inn, West Hollywood CA
  • Hash Browns (chunked, diced and smothered), Waffle House
  • Biscuits and Gravy, Cracker Barrel
  • Bearclaw, Shotz Bakery, Mammoth Lakes CA
