Ah, the challenges of baking a cake with a chilled frosting in a tropical country and transporting it to the office before it melted. It was accompanied by Hainanese chicken rice, the closest thing Singapore has to a national dish, and a grande chai latte from Starbucks.
Elysia turned 39 today. 35 weeks pregnant with our second child, recently selected for promotion to Commander, and has a devoted and loving family and a husband who only occasionally posts photos of her with messy hair.
When I asked her how it felt to be almost 40, she said “Younger than you.”
