We flew back from Bangkok today, our flight schedule timed to get our daughter home in time for trick-or-treating. Citrus loved her Hello Kitty costume so much from last year that she wanted to wear it again. Not that there were many alternatives lined up. The best idea I could come up with was to get some spray-on tan and turn us all into pieces of tandoori chicken.
Rejected.
A few minutes after we left the house we had a big lightning storm and it looked like Halloween was going to be washed out by a tropical storm. Luckily it passed over after an hour and it was almost cool out. Possibly the coldest it has been in six months: the temperature is dropping to a chilling 78 degrees tonight!
Still, the neighborhood will be eating a lot of Sweet Tarts and Swedish fish. Very few bags of chocolate bars were on sale at the Navy Exchange since it usually melts before the kids get down the driveway. Apparently last Halloween was so hot that many kids abandoned their costumes.
After the rain let up, Elysia put on a wizard’s hat and Minnie Mouse ears and we wandered through the neighborhood. It was very different from Maryland since we know almost everyone here on a first-name basis and see them all nearly every day.
A handful of Singaporeans came to our neighborhood in costume while others out for a nightly walk looked a little confused. I am sure it had nothing to do with the fact that I was wearing the Hello Kitty head again.

Hilarious! Hmm. On second glance, maybe it is a little disturbing on you…
