Was listening to some BBC-esque broadcaster yesterday and she pronounced it Malay-see-ah.   I have always pronounced it Malay-sha.

Is there one proper way?  Or are there multiple ways to pronounce it that are acceptable?

The broadcaster also pronounce Houston &quot;Who-sten&quot; so perhaps she is not the best barometer? ;)</description>
