We were shopping for ceilings lights today when Citrus declared “That looks like the Air Force Memorial!!!” It was a floor lamp with three thin chrome cylinders arcing toward the ceiling.
Every time I pick her up from the child development center and drive to pick up Elysia, we have our little routine as we drive through Washington DC. She calls out:
“There’s the Capitol Building! It’s the legislative branch!” It was the better thing I decided to teach her instead of something negative about Congress.
And then as we continue, “There’s the Washington Monument! There’s the Jefferson Memorial! There’s the Pentagon, that’s where Mommy works! And the Air Force Memorial! There’s the Lincoln Memorial!” That’s when you realize how many memorials there are here.
As for the Pentagon, if you ask her what is inside besides Mommy, she says “Water, bathrooms, ice cream, computers.” And she’s right.

we have a wine tour map that we converted into a “Jenner” map. Landmarks include the “broken boat”, “yukky McDonalds”, and he yells mountain verytime Mt. Hood comes in sight!
