There has been a flurry of activity at our house, sort of a countdown, so I have not had a chance to post much lately. The individual tasks are not very exciting. We interviewed three contractors to get an estimate for painting the interior of our house and making some repairs.
Our dining room and kitchen have awful textured ceilings, made worse by a crack when our roof leaked. It is impossible to find anyone who is willing to remove the stuff so I have been spraying the ceiling with water and chiseling it off. When I showed one contractor, his reaction was “Better you than me!” This despite the fact that contractors are desperate for work these days.
Soon our house will be back to neutral colors. When we moved in six years ago everything was beige. Elysia painted our living room a deep blue and we have quite a bit of red as well. It was all much more tasteful than the egg yolk-yellow bedroom (walls and ceiling), green ivy dining room wallpaper, and hippo-and-elephant wallpapered bathroom that the previous owners left for us.
If we are to rent out our house some day, it is going to take a bit of work to get everything ready.
