I had some other book by Ury in my office at work when I was thinking about what to put on the cake. I took a negotiation workshop with him about a year ago...so far the only negotiating I do is nearly every conversation with my daughter. So it seemed appropriate.

I have not tried color flow icing yet. I probably could have used colored sugar for the caterpillar, but the books were done with buttercream frosting and a #3 and #13(?) star tip. I lucked out on getting the colors exactly right -- it's like wet paint and looks a little different (darker) when dry...

Awesome cake decoration! I'd love to know the story of how "Getting to Yes" ended up being one of the books...

This cake is beautiful! I can't ever get my colors to look the way I want them to look! Hopefully I will get to that point soon. I have fallen in love with color flow icing. I think that is what I will be using for my husband's welcome home cake.

I know I'm partial, but I think that is an awesome cake. Not as unique at first glance as the Hippie cake, but the detail is amazing. Maybe it wasn't intentional, but I love how the "YES" looks like cross-stitching detail. And the shades of the colors match the originals perfectly. Nice job!
